This upcoming Saturday, various communities in Liverpool are uniting to take a stand against racism, combat hate, and celebrate the diverse culture of the city. Scheduled for 7pm on May 17, 2025, St George’s Hall will serve as the venue for Liverpool Rising Against Racism, an event filled with music, spoken word, and solidarity. The goal of the event is to emphasize the rejection of racism within the city and bring together artists, activists, residents, and trade unions in a powerful display of unity.

Amidst a backdrop of increasing division and inflammatory language, Liverpool Rising Against Racism represents a significant act of solidarity, amplifying the voices of local individuals while shedding light on the daily struggles faced by those fighting against racism. Drawing inspiration from the historic Rock Against Racism movement of the 1970s, the event aims to encourage progress through creativity, bravery, and collective engagement. The event’s lineup features a blend of national and local talent, such as legendary UK hip-hop artist Skinnyman and award-winning rapper Blue Saint.

Additionally, the event coincides with the 25th anniversary celebrations of Writing on the Wall (WoWFEST) and is supported by Love Music Hate Racism and various trade union partners. Liverpool City Council proudly endorses events like Liverpool Rising Against Racism, which promote unity across cultures, generations, and communities to uphold Liverpool’s tradition of defiance against injustice. As part of the event, the Council has initiated a city-wide consultation on Liverpool’s Anti-Racism Strategy, encouraging input from residents, workers, and students on combating racism and fostering a city where everyone feels valued and respected.
