Recently, the council demonstrated its commitment to strengthening Children’s Social Work by launching a consultation aimed at creating a career progression framework. This initiative means social workers will have clearer opportunities to advance professionally without having to wait for vacant roles, resulting in more senior practitioners positioned to make a meaningful impact. Liverpool aspires to become the preferred destination for the country’s best social workers and is dedicated to making this ambition a reality.

The council supports the growth of social care careers through student placements, apprenticeships, a strengthened Assessed Year in Employment programme for recent graduates, and continuous professional development. By building clear career pathways, Liverpool encourages social workers to enhance their skills and progress within the profession.
