Liverpool’s Pride is making a dynamic return this summer, emerging as one of the UK’s premier LGBTQ+ celebrations with an expanded city-wide schedule aimed at drawing visitors nationwide. After last year’s widely covered cancellation and a swift six-week effort to organize a smaller-scale event, Pride 2026 in Liverpool marks a significant revival. The festival will now take place over a full weekend, featuring headline musical acts, community events, and activities spread throughout the city.
Amid growing financial challenges that have led to cancellations of Pride events elsewhere in the UK, Liverpool’s Pride stands out as a story of resilience and renewed ambition. Scheduled for 24–25 July, the festival will transform Liverpool into a key destination for Pride attendees, with thousands expected to take part in the festivities. The opening night promises to be a highlight, kicking off on Friday 24 July at the M&S Bank Arena with performances by notable artists including Sugababes, Beth Ditto, Bimini, Tia Kofi, House Gospel Choir, and Horse Meat Disco, alongside local LGBTQ+ performers to be announced during Pride Month. This event not only signals Liverpool’s growing prominence as a major Pride venue but also supports the essential work of Sahir House through ticket proceeds.
The celebration extends well beyond this headline party, as the city will host a vibrant, inclusive Pride experience across the weekend. The program includes a wide range of cultural events, grassroots performances, nightlife activities, and community projects, turning Liverpool into an immersive Pride destination. Central to the weekend’s events is the Pride March on Saturday 25 July, expected to gather thousands to visibly demonstrate support and solidarity with LGBTQ+ communities. The event reflects the spirit of inclusiveness and visibility that underpins Liverpool’s LGBTQ+ community.
Complementing the large-scale entertainment, the Pride weekend will feature a lively community program at the Liverpool Experience Campus on Saturday, hosted by Debbie Darling with performances from LGBTQ+ talents such as House of Suarez, Sonia, and Jester Boy. The Liverpool Pride Expo will also provide a space for businesses, creatives, and community groups to connect and celebrate together. To facilitate easy access to the various Pride venues spread across the city, dedicated transport services will run throughout the weekend. Organizers point to Liverpool’s compact city centre, rich cultural history, and vibrant nightlife as key factors that make it an accessible and appealing Pride destination.
Mark Christopherson, representing Sahir, commented: “Liverpool’s Pride 2026 represents a huge step forward – not just for the city, but as part of the wider UK Pride landscape. Following last year’s challenges, we’ve worked hard to rebuild something bigger, more inclusive and more ambitious. We’re proud to invite people from across the country to come and experience Liverpool at its very best.” Similarly, James Doherty from the LCR Pride Foundation stated: “Pride is a protest, a celebration, and a promise to our community. This year, we are making good on that promise. By bringing together the best of the region’s organisations and voices, we are building a Pride that doesn’t just look past yesterday’s hurdles, but actively builds a stronger, more united tomorrow.”
