British musicians Burial and Kode9 surprised fans by releasing a two-track EP entitled “Phoneglow / Eyes Go Blank” on Hyperdub label. The split 12-inch single arrived on June 18 and followed the label’s 20th-anniversary celebrations. Hyperdub announced the release on Twitter yesterday, and fans can stream it from midnight and pre-order vinyl directly through Bandcamp and Hyperdub only. The EP marks the duo’s first release since their surprise EP on Fabric Originals, “Infirmary/Unknown Summer,” last summer.

The release features two tracks, Burial’s “Phoneglow,” and Kode9’s “Eyes Go Blank.” “Phoneglow” is a typical garage-leaning vocal-led track spanning a nine-minute playtime. Kode9’s experimental “Eyes Go Blank” comprises elements of footwork, jungle, and IDM. Fans can listen to both tracks on the label’s Bandcamp page.

The two-tracker follows the duo’s last joint project, their collaborative 2018 EP, and marks their first release in three years. They were the last DJs to helm Fabriclive’s 100 series back in 2018 and have collaborated on several other projects. In January, XL Recordings teased a new solo release from Burial with a 14-second audio snippet online, which was later confirmed. Burial’s new releases’ details landed, and it was revealed as a double-tracker titled “Dreamfear.”

Music lovers can now enjoy “Phoneglow / Eyes Go Blank” by Burial and Kode9, which is out on all platforms. They can also pre-order the 12” vinyl release from Bandcamp and Hyperdub. The artwork for the EP can be seen on the label’s webpage. Mixmag’s Assistant Editor, Gemma Ross, provided an update stating who the duo was and where the EP can be listened to
