A fundraiser event to support Myanmar earthquake relief is set to take place in London on May 16, organized by a group of DJs of Burmese heritage and the Burmese diaspora. The event, led by Ambient Babestation Meltdown, Izzi, and KOSO/DJ Batcum, will be held at Aaja Basement and will feature a blend of food, art, and music. SIIIO and the butcher bird are also scheduled to perform at the event.

Renowned Burmese chef Robert Khaing will be serving a variety of food and snacks, while stalls run by Rice Over Everything and Seint Jewellery will offer Burmese products for sale. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Better Burma, a charity that is actively involved in providing relief to those affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28.

The earthquake resulted in over 5,000 fatalities, making it the second deadliest earthquake in Myanmar’s history. Additionally, it has impacted more than 6 million people, further exacerbating the challenges posed by the ongoing civil war in the region. Better Burma is focused on providing essential aid such as food, water, medical supplies, and rescue equipment to those in need.

KOSO, one of the event organizers, emphasized the importance of supporting Myanmar during these challenging times, stating, “Myanmar is still home to me, and having witnessed the impact of the earthquake firsthand, it is devastating to see the loss of lives that could have been prevented with better infrastructure and support.” Tickets for the event are available for purchase online, with advance tickets priced at £7 to 15 + booking fee, and a minimum donation of £10 for tickets at the door
