Amsterdam is gearing up for a unique celebration in honor of the city’s 750th anniversary. A 15km stretch of highway in Amsterdam will be closed off next month for a special one-off rave event. Renowned promoters Audio Obscura will be hosting the event, known as “The Highway Rave,” on Saturday, June 21 on the city’s A10 motorway.
The A10 motorway, which is a ringroad stretching 32km around the edge of Amsterdam, will play host to this unprecedented event. The Highway Rave is part of Festival op the Ring, a series of festivities commemorating Amsterdam’s 750th birthday. The event will feature a variety of activities such as a 7.5km run, dance parades, floats, fashion shows, and more.
The celebration aims to bring together Amsterdam residents and all those who have a special connection to the city. The organization behind Festival op the Ring expressed their excitement by stating, “As a city you only turn 750 once in your life, and you want to celebrate that with as many people as possible – with Amsterdam residents and everyone who holds the city in their hearts.” The Highway Rave will mark the occasion on the longest day of the year, with 15 kilometers of car-free Ring A10.
During the event, a section of the A10 ring road near the RAI Metro Station will be closed to traffic, allowing attendees to enjoy a once in a lifetime rave experience. With one main dance music stage, the party will span nine hours and feature special guests and exciting back-to-back sets.
