High Note, a new community space in Melbourne’s Northcote, has opened its doors across two adjoining spaces in the Northcote Theatre. The venue, which boasts a hi-fi soundsystem and a custom-built rotary mixer by Condesa Electronics, offers two different experiences in each of the adjoining spaces. One space is a sleek bar, while the other is described as a “buzzing hub, info-den, and home for the community”. The venue is proud of its sound system which, according to High Note, is “a special piece of hi-fi folklore”. The soundsystem includes the Altec horns from the Sydney Opera House, which were restored to their former glory by local audio nerd UMUT.
The addition of High Note to Melbourne’s nightlife scene comes as no surprise, given that the city has been regarded as one of the world’s best party cities with an ongoing, thriving music scene.
