Radio 1’s festival Big Weekend saw a packed crowd with headline act Raye capturing the audience on Saturday. The Main Stage also featured performances by Aitch, Mabel, Rag’n’Bone Man and Griff, with New Music Stage hosting Charli XCX, Cat Burns and The Last Dinner Party.

Raye shared her excitement and nerves before her headline set, stating that it was a big deal for her, having been a guest vocalist for Jax Jones and Joel Corry in previous years. She didn’t want to miss this opportunity to give it her all.

Before Raye’s performance, Aitch took the stage, having been excited to “do what I do best.” However, he had been at Wembley Stadium watching Manchester United beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final before coming to the festival. Charli XCX was supposed to be at Big Weekend in Coventry in 2022 but pulled out. She expressed concern about getting on the New Music Stage, stating that it had been a long time since she had done a “real proper show”.

Sabrina Carpenter, Olly Alexander, and Vampire Weekend were also expected to perform on the Main Stage on the final day of the festival, with Coldplay as the headline act. Approximately 100,000 people were expected to attend across the three days of the festival
