Two separate crashes in counties Tyrone and Londonderry resulted in four individuals being transported to the hospital. The Old Loughry Road in Cookstown and a section of the Windyhill Road outside Coleraine have been closed by police. The Police Service of Northern Ireland has classified both incidents as “serious” and has advised drivers to steer clear of the area in Coleraine.
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) was present at both locations. Following a two-vehicle crash in Cookstown around 16:50 GMT, three individuals were taken to the hospital. One individual was admitted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, a child was transferred to the Royal Belfast Hospital for sick children, and another person received care at Craigavon Area Hospital. The two-vehicle collision outside Coleraine occurred at approximately 15:09 GMT, prompting NIAS to dispatch a rapid response paramedic, two emergency crews, and two ambulance officers to the scene. Additionally, the Charity Air Ambulance, with a HEMS team onboard, was summoned to attend. One person was subsequently taken to Causeway Hospital.
Diversions are currently in place at both sites, with authorities working to reroute traffic away from the affected areas. The incidents have had significant repercussions, with multiple individuals requiring medical attention due to the severity of the crashes.
