A tragic incident occurred late Wednesday evening, resulting in the death of a 13-year-old girl in a house fire in Kingsway, Prescot. Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service managed to extinguish the fire at around 00:30 BST. Fortunately, a man, woman, and five children were able to escape without harm, although the young girl was not as fortunate.
The authorities are currently conducting a joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Firefighters responded to a 999 call at approximately 23:40 on Wednesday, discovering the rear bedroom of a mid-terraced house ablaze. Equipped with breathing apparatus, four firefighters extinguished the fire before conducting a search of the premises. Tragically, they located the teenage girl, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Det Insp Steven O’Neill expressed condolences to the family of the deceased girl, acknowledging the sorrowful circumstances. While the investigation continues, the family is receiving support from trained officers.
