A murder investigation on a cruise ship has resulted in the release of a man on bail. The incident took place aboard the MSC Virtuosa shortly after it departed Southampton, resulting in the death of a 60-year-old man from West Sussex. The disturbance occurred about two-and-a-half hours after the ship set sail on Saturday evening, prompting the arrest of a 57-year-old man from Exeter, Devon, on suspicion of murder by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. He was later released on bail on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities are urging anyone who was on board the MSC Virtuosa during its journey from Southampton to Bruges, Belgium, and back to come forward with any information they may have regarding the incident. The ship departed Southampton at 18:00 BST on Saturday for a two-night voyage, returning at 06:00 on Monday. In response to the situation, MSC Cruises released a statement confirming their cooperation with the investigation and expressing their support for all those affected. The family and friends of the victim have been notified, and they are currently receiving assistance from specialized officers.
