Two decades following the disappearance of Carole Packman, her daughter, Samantha Gillingham, is still pleading for answers from her father, Russell Causley, who was responsible for her mother’s murder. Gillingham expressed her fear that Causley, now 82 years old, would never disclose the truth about what happened to her mother back in 1985 in Bournemouth. Despite advocating for a “no body, no parole” policy before Causley’s parole hearing in 2022, he was ultimately released on the basis that he no longer posed a threat to society as a whole. Addressing him directly after four decades, Gillingham implored him to finally come clean and tell the truth about the tragic event.

The disappearance of Carole Packman remains a mystery, as her body has never been found. Causley and Packman both worked in the aviation industry, although they struggled financially despite outward appearances of luxury. Behind closed doors, Causley subjected his wife and daughter to violent abuse before bringing his lover, Patricia Causley, into their home. Faking a goodbye note and creating a false trail to make it seem like Packman left of her own accord, Causley concealed his heinous crime for years, leaving Gillingham to believe her mother simply couldn’t handle the family situation anymore.

Exposed only when attempting to fake his own death in the early 1990s as part of an insurance scam, Causley’s crime of murder was brought to light. After Causley made a large life insurance claim, which was a mistake leading to his discovery, the truth began to unravel. Despite confessing to the murder while incarcerated for fraud, Causley’s stories regarding the disposal of Packman’s body have been inconsistent. At his parole hearing, he did admit to being a habitual liar, claiming he burned her body in his garden.

During sentencing for the murder, judge Mrs Justice Haslett condemned Causley as a “wicked” individual who not only killed his wife but also deprived his daughter of knowing her mother’s fate. Decades later, Gillingham still seeks closure and pleads with her father to reveal what truly happened. Feeling frustration and hatred towards the ongoing search for answers, she continues to reach out to Causley in hopes of finding the long-awaited truth. However, BBC News has reported unsuccessful attempts to contact Causley, while Dorset Police remains committed to uncovering any new information that may lead to the discovery of Carole Packman’s body
