Wandsworth neighbour jailed for doorbell camera abuse and threats

The court heard that Gray had been involved in a relentless campaign of harassment against a young couple living in the flat above hers, making their lives miserable and causing them extreme distress.

The incidents included damaging their front door camera, shouting threats, and making the couple feel unsafe in their own home. The victims described feeling trapped and frightened, with one of them experiencing suicidal thoughts and requiring medication to manage anxiety and depression. Gray’s behavior was described as persistent harassment, with the judge highlighting the fact that she had 18 previous convictions relating to 40 offenses.

Despite claiming to have regrets for her actions, Gray was sentenced for multiple charges, including harassment and criminal damage, spanning over six months in 2024. In mitigation, her defense lawyer mentioned Gray’s long-standing issues with alcohol and the impact of two road accidents on her physical and mental health. The court granted a 10-year restraining order banning Gray from going near the victims’ address and contacting them directly or indirectly.

Following the case, Wandsworth Council initiated eviction proceedings against Gray, and the judge imposed additional measures to ensure the victims’ safety. The council acknowledged delays in addressing the situation and vowed to make changes to their anti-social behavior case management system to act more promptly in the future.
