Jacky Jhaj: British man charged over mock Disneyland wedding to child had been investigated by BBC

The individual involved in the scandal at Disneyland Paris, where a “mock wedding” with a child was arranged, is Jacky Jhaj. Jhaj, currently in pretrial detention in France, was previously convicted of sexual activity with two 15-year-olds in 2016. The incident in question took place on a Saturday, with a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl set to be his bride in the fake ceremony.

This is not the first time Jhaj has been involved in controversial activities. He previously hired hundreds of children to act as fans at a fabricated film premiere in London’s Leicester Square back in 2023. Some of these children were as young as six years old, and teenagers later revealed that they were instructed to scream and try to touch him without being informed of his true identity by the casting agencies.

Following the BBC’s exposure of Jhaj’s actions, he was spotted giving gifts to children outside dance auditions for another project. Two months later, he was captured posing naked in front of a mock BBC News lorry that was set on fire in London. The recent incident at Disneyland Paris involved around 100 French extras recruited to participate in the mock wedding, which led to his arrest and subsequent charges of fraud, breach of trust, money laundering, and identity theft.

Despite being on the sex offenders register since 2016 and facing restrictions under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, Jhaj has persistently staged productions involving children and young individuals. Some of these events were recorded and uploaded to a YouTube channel masquerading as an official performer’s account, amassing millions of views and millions of subscribers. The backlash from the victims’ families and revelations from former crew members shed light on the massive financial investments made in these elaborate productions, raising questions about the funding behind these events
