BBC News reported that Marilyn Manson’s upcoming UK concert tour has hit a roadblock after the cancellation of the first concert in Brighton. The rock star’s One Assassination Under God Tour was scheduled to begin on October 29th at the Brighton Centre. However, due to pressure from campaigners and an MP, the event was called off, leaving disappointed fans who had planned to attend.

This decision comes after prosecutors in the US announced earlier this year that they would not be filing charges against Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner. Despite longstanding allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence against the 56-year-old singer, authorities cited the age of the accusations and insufficient evidence as reasons for not pursuing legal action. The investigation focused on incidents alleged to have occurred between 2009 and 2011 in West Hollywood.

Brighton Pavilion MP Sian Berry, along with various victim support groups and the University of Sussex students’ union, penned an open letter to the Brighton and Hove City Council urging them to cancel Manson’s concert in October. The letter expressed concerns about the impact of Manson’s performance on survivors and the community, prompting a public debate on censorship and the presumption of innocence.

Despite the cancellation of the first UK concert, Ticketmaster informed fans that ticket sales had ceased but there may still be availability for other tour dates. While the Brighton event will not take place, five other concerts scheduled for October and November in the UK are still listed on ticketing platforms. It remains to be seen how Manson’s tour will proceed in light of the recent developments and public outcry
