Ethan Ives-Griffiths' grandad says he never hit the toddler

In a shocking case, a man who stands accused of murdering his two-year-old grandson is vehemently denying allegations that he hit or slapped the child. On the day before the incident, he recalled hearing a noise from the living room and discovering Ethan lying motionless on the floor. Despite initial concerns, Ethan seemed to recover, and the family even took him shopping the following day. However, tragedy struck when Ethan collapsed again, never regaining consciousness and succumbing to his injuries at Alder Hey Hospital. Michael Ives adamantly stated that he had never inflicted harm on Ethan in any way and maintained his innocence throughout the courtroom session.

As he took the stand to present his defense, Michael Ives painted a picture of his troubled upbringing in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. He detailed his daughter Shannon’s volatile temperament, explaining how she would react aggressively towards Ethan’s misbehavior. Describing instances of Shannon physically disciplining the child, Michael emphasized his attempts to intervene and address the issue. He refuted claims of ever physically reprimanding a child and clarified misinterpretations regarding his handling of Ethan, indicating that his actions were not out of malice but rather to protect the child from harm.
