Several potted coriander plants and a hummus product have been recalled in Northern Ireland due to the potential presence of listeria. The affected batches of potted coriander products were provided by O’Hanlon Herbs to various major supermarkets in the region, including Tesco, Dunnes Stores, Aldi, Lidl, Marks & Spencer, and Supervalu. Additionally, a 150g batch of Tom & Ollie traditional hummus has also been included in the recall. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has stated that the affected batches were distributed to both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Retailers have been instructed by the Irish watchdog to remove the affected batches from the shelves and display recall notices at checkout points. Consumers who have purchased the affected products are being urged to refrain from consuming them. The FSAI has clarified that there is currently no evidence linking the recalled hummus product to the previous recall of spinach and mixed leaves or the ready meals recall, which was associated with one fatality and nine cases of listeriosis. Last week, spinach and mixed leaves products produced by McCormack Family Farms, suppliers to Lidl stores, Dunnes Stores, and Musgrave Ltd in Northern Ireland, were recalled as a precaution following the detection of listeria in the Republic of Ireland.

In rare instances, the infection can progress to more serious complications. The average incubation period for this infection, which is the time between initial exposure and the onset of symptoms, is around three weeks, but it can range from three to 70 days
