Corporal Lucy Wilde, a 25-year-old army medic who had gained a following on TikTok, was found dead at her barracks in Warminster, Wiltshire on 5 February. Serving with the Royal Yorkshire Regiment, Wilde’s sudden passing has prompted an investigation by the Ministry of Defence into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Her brother, Josh Wilde, described Lucy as “strength wrapped in softness,” praising her resilience and the pride with which she served in the army. He further reflected on her love for nature, saying, “She adored long walks with her dog, the peace of nature, books that transported her, and the sense of freedom found outdoors.” He also spoke warmly of her character, stating, “She had a warmth and loyalty that was rare, a heart that gave even when she had been hurt.”

Before transferring to the Royal Yorkshire Regiment just after Christmas, Wilde spent eight years with the Welsh Guards. Her former regiment acknowledged her exceptional ability to uplift those around her and remarked that her loss would be deeply felt “across the Battalion and far beyond.” They also highlighted her bravery during an incident involving an overturned vehicle in the Falklands, where several Welsh Guards were injured. Wilde was commended for her courage and professionalism after being the first to attend the scene and diligently caring for the casualties.

Several of Wilde’s approximately 18,000 TikTok followers expressed how her videos, which showcased her exercise routines and daily life, inspired them.
