Police divers have recovered the body of a 16-year-old girl following a car accident in which a vehicle entered a river. Authorities continue to search for a missing teenage boy connected to the incident. The vehicle was traveling southbound along North Brink in Wisbech St Mary when it left the road around 20:20 GMT on Tuesday, according to Cambridgeshire Police.

Inside the car were five young individuals aged between 16 and 18. Among them, two—one male and one female—were unable to exit the vehicle. Three other passengers, consisting of two females and one male, managed to escape and were subsequently taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn, Norfolk. The injuries they sustained are not considered life-threatening.

Emergency services have maintained a strong presence at the scene, with fire crews from four different stations assisting police in their response efforts. North Brink is expected to remain closed through Wednesday as investigations and recovery operations continue. Authorities have appealed to anyone who witnessed the event or has dashcam footage to get in touch to support the ongoing inquiry.

Expressing his condolences, Steve Barclay, Conservative MP for North East Cambridgeshire, described the news as “appalling.” He stated, “The thoughts of the whole community will be with the families of those involved in this heartbreaking tragedy, and in particular those of the two teenagers who are missing.
