A hospital order has been issued for Peter Windsor, a 61-year-old man from Birmingham, following his conviction for stalking television and radio presenter Myleene Klass. Windsor was found guilty of sending Klass, along with fellow Classic FM presenter Katie Breathwick, various unwanted items over several years. These included an air pistol and handcuffs, among other disturbing gifts.

The court case revealed that Windsor’s harassment spanned from 2020 to 2024, during which he sent numerous unsolicited packages and letters to both women at the Classic FM studios in central London. Some of the items addressed to Klass were highly unsettling, such as instructions on writing a will, binoculars, and even a police uniform. The trial established that Windsor had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, a factor considered in his behavior and sentencing. He will remain in hospital until a judge confirms it is safe for him to be released.

At Coventry Crown Court, Judge Tom Rochford emphasized that although Windsor had no previous convictions, his actions demonstrated a clear awareness of wrongdoing. The judge described his conduct as deliberate and escalating, causing both Klass and Breathwick to significantly alter their daily lives. Windsor’s schizophrenia was acknowledged as a major influence on his actions, but the judge was convinced the harassment would have persisted without intervention. Windsor has been held in custody since September 18, 2024, and will be transferred to a hospital facility within 28 days.

The impact on the victims was profound. Breathwick described feeling constantly anxious and fearful of being followed, experiencing panic attacks and migraines. Klass reported a severe psychological toll, fearing potential revenge and being distracted from her work, especially her community and charity activities. Windsor’s behavior was described as “extremely frightening” due to its unpredictable and bizarre nature. The court also heard from a psychiatrist who stated Windsor needed long-term treatment for schizophrenia, highlighting his limited understanding of the harm caused. A restraining order has been put in place to protect the victims moving forward
