Kent Police have confirmed the death of a police officer following a serious road traffic collision while responding to an emergency. PC Bradley Corke, aged 27, succumbed to critical injuries sustained in the crash near Swanley, specifically in Farningham, on Thursday. His death occurred on the following Saturday, according to the police statement.

The collision involved a marked Ford Focus police vehicle and a Volkswagen Scirocco on the westbound A20 London Road, at the intersection with Button Street. The incident took place at approximately 19:45 GMT. Alongside PC Corke, another officer traveling in the same police car remains in a critical condition in hospital. Additionally, a member of the public who was driving the Volkswagen continues to receive treatment for serious injuries.

Kent Police expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting PC Corke’s dedication and valor. “Bradley selflessly gave up his life while trying to save the lives of others who were in danger,” the force said. They added, “His bravery, dedication, and passion for helping others will not be forgotten.” PC Corke had been with Kent Police since 2022 and was based in Tonbridge. The family and colleagues of the officer are said to be devastated by the tragic event.

Neil Mennie, chairman of the Kent Police Federation, described the incident as a harsh reminder of the dangers involved in police work. He praised PC Corke as “a popular colleague who will be much missed.” Authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have recorded footage of the collision to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation
