Coran Davies, a 23-year-old drug dealer, has been sentenced to four years in prison after sending a photo of his newly fitted “Turkey teeth” to a friend, unaware that the friend’s phone was seized and being examined by the police. The image was sent from a dentist’s chair in Turkey and was accompanied by messages about dealing cocaine and cannabis.
Davies was identified through facial recognition technology and apprehended in March while driving in Tonypandy. Alongside him was Dale Howell, 25, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Both men hail from Porth, Rhondda Cynon Taf. Police officers found drugs and thousands of pounds in cash when they stopped the car and arrested the pair.
Following their arrests, Davies and Howell faced several charges and admitted guilt at Merthyr Magistrates Court. Davies pleaded guilty to offenses including cannabis supply, driving without insurance or a license, possession of criminal property, and intent to supply cocaine. Howell admitted to possessing criminal property and intent to supply cocaine. At their sentencing in Merthyr Crown Court, Davies received a 48-month prison term while Howell was sentenced to 36 months.
The case unfolded after Davies inadvertently exposed his drug activities by sending the photo and messages to his friend, whose phone was already under police analysis. This evidence contributed significantly to their arrest and conviction
