Eamonn Holmes’s family has shared that the veteran broadcaster is “doing OK” following a recent stroke. His son, Declan Holmes, emphasized that they are approaching the situation cautiously, focusing on maintaining stability for the 66-year-old GB News presenter. The family has asked for privacy as they manage the recovery process.

GB News confirmed on Saturday that Holmes was hospitalized after falling ill last week, assuring the public that he is “responding well to treatment.” In a message posted on Instagram on Sunday, Eamonn Holmes expressed gratitude for the “many many good wishes” he received, acknowledging the support as a source of strength during his recovery.

Holmes, a familiar presence on British television, joined GB News in 2022 to anchor its breakfast show after long-standing roles with Sky News and ITV. His recent Instagram post included a photo of his granddaughters, one holding a sign that read “get well soom [sic].” He commented on the photo, stating, “As my beautiful granddaughters put it so well – I will do my best to get well SOOM [sic].”

Declan Holmes described his father’s stroke as “a real shock” and thanked supporters for their messages, while requesting some privacy for the family during this challenging time. The family shared an image of Declan with his arm around his father’s shoulder. GB News chief executive Angelos Frangopoulos also expressed the network’s support, calling Eamonn Holmes a “loved member of the GB News family” and promising to be with him “every step of the way as he recovers.”

Originally from Northern Ireland, Holmes has been open about previous health challenges, including spinal surgery, two hip replacements, and mobility issues that sometimes require the use of a scooter. Over his decades-long career, Holmes has become well known for his work on breakfast television. Prior to joining GB News, he was a regular on ITV’s This Morning, often co-hosting with Ruth Langsford, whom he married in 2010. The couple announced their separation in 2024, with a spokesperson confirming they are in the process of divorcing.
