Religious leaders from various faith communities across the UK have joined forces to address the rising concern of antisemitism, emphasizing in an open letter that it is an issue affecting everyone. The letter, which also gained signatures from prominent figures in business, sports, and the media, expressed strong solidarity with the Jewish community and condemned recent violent incidents as reminiscent of “a nightmare from another time.”
Recent months have seen a troubling escalation in attacks targeting Jewish individuals and institutions. The authors of the letter included faith representatives from Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, and Zoroastrian backgrounds, highlighting that Jewish citizens have an equal claim to belonging in the country. The document firmly stated, “This country belongs to you as much as any of us.”

The coalition emphasized that combating antisemitism should not be left to the Jewish community alone, asserting: “This is a problem for all of us to fix.” They affirmed their commitment to protect Jewish people from those who seek to threaten and divide.

Brendan Cox, co-founder of the Together Coalition, stressed the need for unity, stating that extremists aim to sow division by targeting minorities but affirmed, “We won’t let them.” Likewise, Julie Siddiqi, co-chair of the UK Muslim Network, highlighted the importance of solidarity between communities who have faced similar experiences of hatred, suggesting British Jews and Muslims should be “allies in tackling extremism.
