The co-defendants involved in a high-profile case linked to a man accused of drugging and sexually abusing his wife have now been publicly identified following the lifting of reporting restrictions. The husband, whose identity remains protected to safeguard his wife’s privacy, initially denied all charges but has lately admitted guilt to several offenses, including rape. Nevertheless, he will still face trial on other pending allegations.
This complex case includes 13 other men accused of either directly abusing the victim or assisting in administering substances that rendered her unconscious, incidents that reportedly occurred at the victim’s home in Stockport. The husband and twelve of these additional men are due to appear in court for a trial in September at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court.
Among the accused, Keith Fotheringham, aged 59 from Dundee, Scotland, has pleaded guilty to all the charges he faces. His admitted offenses include conspiracy to commit rape and conspiracy to administer a substance with intent. Meanwhile, the husband, who is in his 60s and resides in Stockport, denies other serious charges such as administering a substance with intent to enable sexual activity between 2004 and 2025, and conspiring with others to drug and sexually assault his wife during the period from 2018 to 2025. He has also entered a not guilty plea regarding additional allegations of conspiracy covering the same timeframe.
The list of co-defendants encompasses men from various locations, including Philip Wild, Sean Peers, and Jonathan Kirk from Stockport; Jordan Wallace and Alan Keelan from Manchester; Robert Stewart also from Stockport; Mohammed Sabir who is currently of no fixed abode; Graham Brougham from Northwich, Cheshire; Richard Townsend from Rochdale; Karl Lindsay from Taunton, Somerset; Daniel Rayner from Whitstable, Kent; and David Graves from Ilkeston, Derbyshire. While most face allegations of direct involvement in sexual offenses, some are charged with conspiring to abuse the victim in other non-contact ways.
Earlier this week, the husband revised some of his pleas, having previously denied all 48 charges related to his wife. He has now pleaded guilty to five counts of rape, six counts of assault by penetration, and three counts of sexual assault for offenses occurring between 2022 and 2025. In addition to these admissions, he conceded to sharing intimate images or videos of his wife without her consent for sexual gratification. Nonetheless, he continues to contest a series of further charges that include multiple counts of rape, attempted rape, conspiracy to rape, administering substances with intent, and other related offenses.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 24 August, paving the way for a 12-week trial expected to begin shortly thereafter
