An inquest has revealed that a woman is believed to have succumbed to a traumatic head injury after police were alerted to an assault. The victim, 35-year-old Zoe Dixon, passed away in hospital one week following the incident, which occurred on 15 June at a residence in Merthyr Tydfil, the Pontypridd Coroner’s Court was informed.

Following the assault, a 39-year-old man was discovered deceased the next day at a reservoir, according to police reports. South Wales Police have stated that their investigation into the incident remains active and is being treated as a homicide case. Additionally, they confirmed that specially trained officers are providing support to Dixon’s family during this difficult time.

The police confirmed that they responded to a call just before midnight on 15 June, arriving at an address on Rocky Road in Penydarren. Upon arrival, they found a 35-year-old woman who had suffered injuries from an assault and subsequently took her to the hospital, where she later died on 22 June.

In the early hours of 16 June, authorities found a 39-year-old man dead at Pontsticill Reservoir, located within the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, commonly known as the Brecon Beacons.
