On Sunday evening, Beg took his children to the park, but around 9 p.m., he noticed an anti-immigration protest approaching. The atmosphere quickly changed as a helicopter hovered overhead and a crowd carrying banners, some wearing balaclavas, advanced toward the area.
As the situation grew tense, many people, including families, began to worry and left the park. Beg then hurriedly escorted his children back to their home for safety. Afterward, he returned to the park to retrieve his car. During this time, the protesters were chanting slogans such as “close the borders” and “save our children,” clearly targeting him.
Choosing to respond with what he described as “part of that anti-racism Glasgow spirit,” Beg began recording the demonstrators on his phone. However, after police advised that continuing to film could escalate tensions, he decided to sit on the children’s swings nearby.
While sitting there, some of the protesters recorded Beg and uploaded the footage online, where it was subsequently shared by Robinson, who has a following of two million people.
