Nine emergency ambulance crews attended the scene immediately. Seven other people were hospitalised as a result of the crash. While two men are still under medical care, there are no further updates on their condition.

Patrick Grimley was heavily involved in the Gaelic Athletic Association, serving as secretary for the Madden Raparees for five years. In the weeks following his death, tributes to his dedication to the association and his commitment to his family flooded social media. Paddy Jones, a member of the GAA club, praised the couple’s devotion to their children’s extracurricular activities and their passion for the GAA. He asked people to continue keeping all the families in their thoughts and prayers as they attempt to come to terms with their losses.

Ciera Grimley was described in tributes as a loving, caring and supportive wife. It is assumed that her children and wider family will continue to receive support from their local GAA club and wider community as they grieve their losses
