For children aged between 12 months and 11 years who have missed these immunisations, catch-up appointments are available through their GP practices. Additionally, school-aged children and young people who missed vaccinations typically offered at school can attend a series of immunisation clinics scheduled across Liverpool during the summer holidays.
Health experts stress that it is never too late to receive missed vaccinations. Measles, being highly contagious, can spread rapidly among unvaccinated children, but two doses of the MMR vaccine offer the strongest protection. The summer clinics aim to accommodate children and young people who missed their school vaccination appointments due to various reasons such as illness, changing schools, family commitments, or uncertainty about attending previous sessions. These clinics also provide a supportive environment where families can discuss any concerns directly with trained healthcare professionals.
