An elderly man has lost his life following a collision between two vehicles on a rural road in Fife. The incident occurred around 10:40 on Saturday morning on the A92, north of Rathillet. The man, aged 87, was driving a red Dacia Sandero when it collided with a blue Vauxhall Astra.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene promptly, and the elderly man was transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. Sadly, he later passed away in the hospital. Alongside him, his passenger, an 88-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital for treatment. The other vehicle’s occupants—a 32-year-old man and two children, aged seven and 13—were similarly taken to hospital.
Following the crash, authorities closed the road to allow for a thorough investigation. The A92 remained closed for several hours before reopening at approximately 15:00. Police have since continued their inquiries into the cause of the accident.
Law enforcement officials are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have captured footage, such as from a dashcam, to come forward and assist with the investigation. They have encouraged such individuals to contact the police to provide any relevant information
