Families left homeless as tree falls into houses in Kinver

A significant weather event caused substantial damage in Kinver, Staffordshire, where two families lost their homes after a large tree toppled onto their houses. The incident occurred during Storm Dave, which brought powerful winds to the area. Emergency services responded promptly after reports of the fallen tree impacting a house and a vehicle.

The incident took place around 22:00 BST on Saturday at Windsor Crescent. Photos from the scene revealed severe structural damage, including a large hole torn in the roofs of two adjoining semi-detached homes. Additionally, cars parked nearby were left badly crushed beneath the weight of the tree. Fortunately, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that no one was hurt during the incident, and crews left the location close to midnight.

One resident, Ryan Bridgewood, who lives in one of the affected properties, recounted his experience, expressing his concern for his children’s safety. He explained, “We just heard an almighty crash, it was like an earthquake had hit the house. I’ve looked at those trees swaying in the wind before and have been worried about them. As soon as I heard the bang, I looked outside and saw the tree leaning on the house and I feared for my kids’ lives.”

Prior to this event, the Met Office had issued Amber and Yellow weather warnings for parts of northern England, North Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, forecasting strong winds and heavy rain during the evening.
