A tragic incident occurred in Essex where a young woman lost her life due to a dog attack. Emergency services responded to a call at a property named Long Hide, located in the village of Leaden Roding near Dunmow. The call came in at 22:45 BST on Friday, and when police officers arrived, they found the 19-year-old woman suffering from serious injuries.
Despite the efforts made by the emergency responders at the scene, the woman was pronounced dead. Essex Police confirmed that a 37-year-old man from Dunmow was taken into custody. He has been arrested on suspicion of being responsible for a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury that resulted in death. The man remains in police custody while investigations continue.
The dog involved in the attack was seized by the authorities, and specialist police officers were deployed to secure the area and ensure it was safe. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper addressed the community, acknowledging the shock such an event would bring, and extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased woman. He also mentioned that officers would be available in the vicinity to engage with the public and gather any possible information.
