Arran ferry evacuated over 'bomb threat' as passenger rescued from sea

A ferry operating on Scotland’s west coast was evacuated following a bomb threat that arose after a passenger was rescued from the water. The incident involved the MV Caledonian Isles during its 16:40 departure from Brodick, located on the Isle of Arran, according to the ferry operator CalMac.

After it was reported that an individual had gone overboard, the vessel’s fast rescue craft was deployed to bring the passenger back on board. Shortly thereafter, a bomb threat was reportedly made, prompting the implementation of emergency safety procedures by CalMac.

Following the threat, the ferry was thoroughly searched once it docked at Ardrossan. A total of 329 passengers disembarked on foot while authorities conducted their investigation. Meanwhile, both those evacuated from the ferry and others waiting at the port were escorted by police to a nearby car park at Asda.

Once the search was completed, the authorities declared the incident resolved, allowing passengers to reboard the ferry to retrieve their vehicles. The situation was managed without further incident, ensuring the safety of all involved
