Harry Kane signs new Bayern Munich contract until 2029

Harry Kane, the England captain and Ballon d’Or recipient, has committed his future to Bayern Munich by signing a new contract that extends through to 2029. This agreement comes as he enters the final year of the initial four-year deal that began following his £86 million transfer from Tottenham in 2023. Kane, now 33 years old, has been an exceptional presence for Bayern, notably netting a club-record 61 goals across 51 matches last season, as the team secured both the league and cup titles.
Reflecting on his time at Bayern, Kane expressed his contentment and connection with the club and its environment. “I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich,” he stated. He also praised the team and management, adding, “We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club.” The new contract will keep Kane at Bayern until shortly before his 36th birthday, covering key international tournaments including Euro 2028 and coming close to the 2030 World Cup.
The extension has significant implications for Kane’s career trajectory, especially concerning his pursuit of the Premier League’s all-time scoring record held by Alan Shearer. With 47 goals still needed to match Shearer’s 260-goal tally, remaining in Germany diminishes Kane’s opportunity to surpass this milestone domestically. Furthermore, Bayern’s swift move to secure Kane’s stay has effectively deterred interest from Barcelona, a club long linked with the striker, as well as suitors from Saudi Arabia.
Throughout his tenure with Bayern, Kane has achieved remarkable individual and team success. He scored an impressive total of 73 goals in 65 matches for both club and country during the 2025-26 season and was recently honored as the world’s best male player at the Ballon d’Or ceremony. His Bundesliga record boasts 102 goals in 102 appearances, accompanied by three consecutive Golden Boot awards and two league championship titles. Since joining the Bundesliga, Kane has fulfilled his ambition to “prove myself at the highest level,” transforming from a player who had never claimed a major trophy to one who has now celebrated five titles with Bayern and earned top individual accolades including Bundesliga player of the season for 2024-25. Bayern’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, praised Kane as “a team player, a leader, the best all-round striker in the world,” highlighting the value Kane brings to the team both on and off the field
