Annabel Schofield, a model, actress, and producer who gained fame during the 1980s fashion scene and later appeared in the popular American TV series Dallas, has passed away at the age of 62. She died on 28 February in Los Angeles, where she had lived for many years, after battling cancer.
Born in 1963 in Llanelli, Wales, Schofield began her modeling career at the age of 16 when she moved to London. Over time, she worked with prestigious fashion houses such as Versace and Yves Saint Laurent. Her international breakthrough came with a memorable Bugle Boy jeans advertisement in the late 1980s, which helped cement her reputation in the fashion industry. Alongside modeling, Schofield transitioned into film and television production and later published a semi-autobiographical novel.
Schofield’s acting credits include her role as Laurel Ellis in Dallas during its 11th season, where her character was involved in a compelling storyline with the show’s central figure, JR Ewing. Earlier in her career, she appeared in the low-budget film Bloodtide and later acted opposite Charlton Heston in the 1990 sci-fi thriller Solar Crisis. In 2010, she established Bella Bene Productions in Burbank, California, marking a shift towards behind-the-scenes work. She also contributed to a blog on 1980s culture and fashion called The Cherry Alignment, which was the title of her novel released in 2013.
Her father, John D. Schofield, was an accomplished movie producer known for works such as As Good as It Gets and Jerry Maguire. Melissa Richardson, who once managed the London modeling agency Take Two where Schofield was signed, praised her as a favorite of the renowned photographer David Bailey and emphasized her authenticity, talent, and loyalty. Annabel had publicly shared details of her cancer diagnosis after surgeries and chemotherapy treatments, including a battle with brain metastasis. In her final months, she sought financial support through a GoFundMe campaign, which raised nearly $35,000. Despite restarting treatment in November 2025 and undergoing further surgery in January, she passed away in February
