Fourth person charged over Jewish volunteer ambulance fires

In north London, a fourth individual has been charged in connection with an arson attack targeting volunteer ambulances operated by the Jewish community. The incident occurred on the early morning of 23 March, when several vehicles belonging to Hatzola, a volunteer ambulance service, were deliberately set on fire in Golders Green.

The latest person to face charges is Judex Atshatshi, an 18-year-old from Dagenham in east London. He has been accused of committing arson with recklessness regarding the potential endangerment of life. His arrest took place on 16 April following counter-terrorism raids conducted by officers at two different locations in east London. Atshatshi is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

Alongside Atshatshi, another 18-year-old was detained on the same day on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. This individual has since been released on bail and is due to return in July. Additionally, three other suspects—Hamza Iqbal, aged 20, and Rehan Khan, 19, both from Leyton, as well as a 17-year-old from Walthamstow who remains unnamed due to age restrictions—have already been formally charged in connection with the crime.

All three previously charged defendants are set to appear at the Old Bailey court on 24 April. The investigation continues as authorities work to address this serious incident affecting the community and emergency services
