Kent M20 crash injures two after more than 30 vehicles collide

A major collision involving over 30 vehicles occurred late Saturday on the M20 in Kent, resulting in two individuals sustaining serious injuries, according to police reports. The incident took place on the London-bound carriageway between junctions eight and nine, near Hollingbourne, Maidstone, with emergency services being alerted around 18:41.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that paramedics attended to eleven people at the scene, with two victims requiring hospital treatment. Emergency responders included an air ambulance crew, three fire engines, and a specialized technical rescue unit. National Highways reported that thick fog had been present in the area at the time of the crash.
Due to the severity of the accident, the M20 was closed in both directions early Sunday, and authorities indicated the road closure would likely continue for several hours to allow for recovery and clearance operations. Kent Police provided further details, stating that one of the seriously injured individuals was transported to a local hospital while the other was taken to a hospital in London.
Other drivers involved in the collision sustained injuries that were not considered serious. Kent Police also emphasized that the closures might persist overnight as investigations and incident management continue. They have requested that anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the collision come forward to assist with their inquiries
