A father and his young daughter have won the hearts of many after they began sharing videos of their cycling adventures together. Gareth Williams, 33, decided to modify his own bike by adding a child’s seat and handlebar attachment, inspired by his toddler Indie’s love of scooting around their home. Their outdoor outings, set against the mountainous backdrop near their home in Blaenau Gwent, quickly gained popularity online.
Gareth, an adrenaline enthusiast and drainage technician, hadn’t intended to post their outings on social media initially. However, after capturing a 20-minute ride through local woodland and mountains, he shared the footage with friends and family, who were all charmed by Indie’s excitement and her interactions with animals. Encouraged by the positive response, he created an Instagram account named ‘daddydaughterrides,’ which amassed over 10,000 followers in just one week.
In the videos, young Indie can often be heard asking to “see the cows,” a reference to the large Highland cattle with dramatic horns that once wandered into their garden. Gareth shared how amusing it was to watch Indie’s delight when the cows appeared, sparking her belief they would return on future rides. Though he describes Indie as naturally shy, Gareth notes that she feels comfortable and uninhibited during their bike trips, unaware of the recording camera, allowing her true personality to shine.
Gareth expressed amazement at how quickly their videos went viral and appreciates the fortunate location that allows their family to access mountain trails within minutes from home. Feeling grateful for the overwhelmingly positive feedback, he shared how viewers find joy in their content, with many delighted by Indie’s unmistakable Welsh accent—something that even Gareth himself hadn’t fully noticed until viewers pointed it out. The simple, heartfelt moments between father and daughter continue to resonate deeply with audiences online
