Bradford twins graduate from Keele University on same day

Twin brothers Adrian and Ainsley Dondo, both 22 years old and from Bradford, recently celebrated their graduation after completing identical degree courses in biomedical science at Keele University. Over the span of four years, they lived in rooms next to each other, shared the same academic goals, and ultimately earned the same 2:1 classification. Their decision to attend the same university and pursue the same program was rooted in mutual support and a shared passion for the subject.

Adrian explained that their primary motivation was to remain together throughout their university journey. “Initially the whole idea was to stick together. University was a massive thing moving on from college and the A-level life, we had always been abiding with each other then. To go to university, it didn’t make sense for us to separate,” he said. Outside of their studies, the brothers pursued their interest in basketball and were active members of Keele’s basketball team, drawing on a sport they had played while growing up.

Ainsley reflected on how having his brother by his side made the transition to university life smoother. “It’s kind of like going with a best friend but he’s my brother and we can spend even more time together,” he commented. Although they provided each other with strong support, a healthy competitive spirit also flourished between them throughout their studies. Ainsley shared that they would make small bets to keep the competition alive, such as buying each other McDonald’s if one performed better on assignments or exams.

Adrian, who is just a minute older than Ainsley, acknowledged that this friendly rivalry pushed them both to excel academically. “At the end of the day, we do wish each other the best. Obviously, we always aim to go high in our grades but it’s just a bit of a light-hearted thing to push us more,” he said. Reflecting on their graduation day, Adrian described it as a surreal and proud moment to share the experience with his brother. The brothers are now embarking on internships in Milton Keynes and look forward to continuing their journeys together, with Ainsley noting, “The only time we’ll be separated is in an actual job now.”
