Authorities are currently investigating a fatal fire that occurred at a residence on Mason Street in Wolverhampton on Friday evening, resulting in the deaths of two young children. Emergency services from West Midlands Police, Fire Service, and Ambulance Service responded to the incident around 8:30 pm BST.

Firefighters gained entry to the property and managed to rescue the two children, who were then given emergency medical treatment on site. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, both children were declared deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, two additional children and a woman had already evacuated the house prior to emergency crews arriving. They received medical assessments but did not require hospitalisation.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service reported that paramedics administered advanced life support quickly in an attempt to save the children, but the efforts were ultimately unsuccessful. West Midlands Police have secured the location, setting up a cordon around the extensively damaged house as their investigation into the fire’s cause continues.

A spokesperson for the police expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the children’s loved ones and all those impacted by this heartbreaking incident.” The scene remains closed off while officers and forensic teams work to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragic event
