A 17-year-old boy, arrested last year in south Norfolk, has appeared in court denying a total of 16 terror-related charges. The teenager, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, is accused of manufacturing explosives, possessing a firearm without a certificate, distributing terror-related materials, and inciting racial hatred, among other offenses.
At Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where he appeared with his parents, the young defendant confirmed his personal details and pleaded not guilty to multiple counts. These charges include possession of information useful for terrorism, creating explosive substances for unlawful purposes, circulating terrorist publications, and committing racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage. He also faces accusations of blackmail and producing indecent images of children.
The allegations specify that in April 2025, the boy allegedly used match heads and potassium nitrate to create homemade explosives, including “black powder” and “improvised flash powder.” Additionally, in March of last year, he is said to have displayed white supremacist posters and graffiti, along with distributing flyers intended to stir up racial hatred. Beyond these, the prosecution claims he engaged in “catfishing,” posing as a teenage girl online to extort men by threatening to expose sexual images. He also reportedly generated deepfake sexual images of six teenage girls using pictures sourced from social media.
After the hearing, the teenager was granted bail under strict conditions, including remaining at home overnight, informing police about any internet-capable devices he possesses, refraining from carrying spray cans in public, avoiding contact with witnesses, and not attempting to leave the country. The case has been scheduled to continue at the Old Bailey in London on 15 May
