The owners of a football club are facing serious legal charges, including rape, sexual assault, and human trafficking for the purposes of sexual exploitation. Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, aged 57, along with his husband Scott, aged 32, were taken into custody on Wednesday by police in Essex as part of an ongoing investigation.
Law enforcement officers conducted detailed searches at several locations connected to the couple. These included Maldon and Tiptree FC, the football club they own, their residence in Southwood Chase, Danbury, and The Swan pub in Braintree, which is also under Barrie Drewitt-Barlow’s ownership. These extensive inquiries are part of the evidence-gathering process linked to the allegations.
The pair are scheduled to appear before Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Friday. During the police operation on Wednesday, a Rolls Royce vehicle registered to Barrie Drewitt-Barlow was also seized and transported on a trailer for further examination. The investigation has uncovered a significant collection of items at the Drewitt-Barlow Stadium, home to Maldon and Tiptree FC, which competes in the lower tiers of English football.
Barrie Drewitt-Barlow is known for his background as a property developer and has appeared on reality TV shows such as Rich House, Poor House and Below Deck Sailing Yacht. In 2025, he and Scott completed a high-value acquisition of the football club, overseeing its rise to step seven in the English football league system. Their management attracted notable figures, including former West Ham United striker Freddie Sears and Kevin Horlock, formerly a player for Manchester City and Ipswich Town, who was appointed as the team’s manager.
