Third person arrested after car damaged by gunshots in Swansea

Three individuals have now been taken into custody following a shooting incident involving a car on the A48 in Morriston, Swansea. According to South Wales Police, the vehicle was struck by gunfire on Friday, resulting in damage consistent with a “firearms discharge,” and causing minor injuries to one person.

Initial arrests were made on Friday when a 41-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, both from Llansamlet, were detained and remain in police custody. The following day, a 29-year-old man from Swansea was also apprehended on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon, expanding the scope of the investigation.

Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones of South Wales Police stated that the involved parties are “likely to be known to one another.” He acknowledged that while such events are uncommon, they understandably raise concern among community members. The police have reassured the public that no broader threat is currently identified. A visible policing presence will continue in the area to support ongoing inquiries and to provide reassurance to locals.

Residents were advised to stay away from the vicinity during the immediate aftermath, leading to the cancellation of local events such as a scheduled firework display. Authorities also addressed circulating rumors on social media, urging the public to refrain from spreading unconfirmed information. The incident prompted road closures that have since been lifted. Witnesses or anyone with relevant footage are encouraged to assist the police by contacting South Wales Police through their major incident public portal
